GB Phase 1 consultations

Public Consultations in Great Britain

Between Monday 11 April and Friday 20 May 2016, we consulted on our shortlisted options for a converter station site and a landfall site.

We held six public consultation events in April at different venues (listed below) to help local people find out more about our proposals and how we reached our shortlisted site options for a converter station and a landfall point.

In August 2016, the preferred landfall point was confirmed as site LF1A at Boygrift, near Sandilands, East Lindsey and the preferred converter station site was confirmed as site CS1 at North Ing Drove, near Donington, South Holland.

We would like to thank everyone who participated in the consultation and provided comments. Your views are important to us and were carefully considered when making our decision on which sites to take forward.

More information on how we selected these sites is available in our UK Onshore Scheme: Preferred Sites Selection Report and details of the issues raised during the consultation and how they have been taken into account can be found in our UK Onshore Scheme: Phase 1 Consultation Feedback Report (Volume 1 - Introduction and Approach; Volume 2 - Feedback; Volume 3 - Appendices).

Between Monday 5 September and Friday 14 October 2016, we held a second phase of consultation on the direct current cable route corridor options between the preferred landfall and the converter station sites and the converter station design style. Read more here.
